Cathi and I organize periodic general workdays for several groups, including the Well-Fed Neighbor Alliance (Alternative Energy Group), SCR-CERT (Emergency Response), The Misty Manor (handcrafting, sustainable farming, and general farm projects). and Society For Creative Anachronisms (Medieval Reenactment). We will be working on our projects related to these purposes and we encourage others to pop in, see what we are working on, bring your own project to work on or get help with, share ideas, tools, and techniques. [Please use the directions on the Misty Manor site; do not use Mapquest or Google Maps or you will get lost!]

This will happen on our ten-acre farm. We have several small outbuildings including a small workshop and a reasonable selection of tools, materials, and references. Many of the projects we have going for our farm are related to regional self-reliance and transitional community goals, including water and soil conservation, alternative energy production, wild-crafting, and intensive rotational grazing. As we get these projects going on our own farm, we intend to replicate the ideas which work within the community at large (and quietly bury the occasional failures...).

We will alternate between doing these workdays on weekdays and weekends to suit different people's schedules and to work around the farmers' market season.

Ride Sharing

There has been some mention of sharing rides from Springfield or Stockton for these work days. Please post comments if you are interested in connecting with people for this purpose.
