I have set up a group under the web site "Take Back Your State" for Congressional District 7. Many people have asked me to organize a system for collection information on and endorsements of candidates running in 2010. Happily I discovered that Catherine Bleish was already doing so.

I intend this area to be used to collect information on what positions are available or contested in CD7 for 2010, electoral procedures, dossiers on candidates, endorsements, volunteer/organization information, and hot local issues. The elections and especially the primaries will be here before we know it, and we need to get organized quickly. We need to discover, vet, select, and advance candidates, assure fair electoral treatment of "fringe" candidates and ensure strong, open, and thorough debate of the issues. You do not have to agree with my choices or endorsements to be part of the CD7 group. In fact, if people do not disagree with me, I have no idea how we would have enough debate to select the right candidates! The Statesmen, as a group is interested in certain political goals, but first and foremost, we are about making sure we have a functioning political system in which to pursue those goals.

You will notice you can now login with an OpenID account, such as from MyOpenID. Since Disqus, the commenting system, also uses OpenID, you can now use the same account for the main site, the commenting system and potentially a whole host of other websites.
