In the process of time we have observed the liberation of what would generally be defined as the European peoples, beginning essentially with the signing and publication of the Magna Carta, which enumerated the limits and obligations of the sovereign, and was subsequently signed under duress by King John in 1215, thereby fundamentally creating a venue of redress for the barons to air their grievances concerning the basic natural law of human expression. That document is seminal to basically every liberty we enjoy today. However, it must be understood that right of redress then, as now, was not as ubiquitous as we might suppose.

Congressman Roy Blunt (Republican, MO 7th) signed on as a cosponsor of H.R. 1207 - "The Federal Reserve Transparency Act" to audit the Federal Reserve and determine where bailout funds have been spent (and on what terms). We cannot have any kind of functioning government if the voters, taxpayers, and just plain citizens of this country cannot find out where the money goes. H.R. 1207 is a small step, but a step in that direction.
I know a lot of people coming to this site are still rather angry at Mr. Blunt for the whole "Bailout thing," but we have to give credit where it is due. Congressman Blunt has plans to run for a Senate seat, and I believe he has finally discovered that he cannot do it without the conservatives he has alienated. So, please send a "Thank You" to his office or call (417-889-1800) and let him know that we do notice when he does something right. |

Cathi and I organize periodic general workdays for several groups, including the Well-Fed Neighbor Alliance (Alternative Energy Group), SCR-CERT (Emergency Response), The Misty Manor (handcrafting, sustainable farming, and general farm projects). and Society For Creative Anachronisms (Medieval Reenactment). We will be working on our projects related to these purposes and we encourage others to pop in, see what we are working on, bring your own project to work on or get help with, share ideas, tools, and techniques. [Please use the directions on the Misty Manor site; do not use Mapquest or Google Maps or you will get lost!]
